Essential Functions (Job Duties):
As a faculty member of the Department of Oncology and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Population Studies and Disparities Research Program, Division of Biostatistics, the candidate must have a strong potential to develop a robust, independent research program.
The candidate will be expected to secure external funding that will provide salary support as Principal Investigator or Co Principal Investigator and support research efforts and projects.
Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed literature as first or co-author. The successful candidate will join a highly dynamic and collegial academic setting, and will receive a competitive start-up package, generous laboratory space, state-of-the-art core facilities, and an environment that supports multidisciplinary collaboration.
All faculty members in the WSU School of Medicine make general contributions to their Department as well as contributions specific to their individual talents and interests. It is an expectation for all faculty members that they participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, attend faculty meetings, serve on standing and ad hoc committees, attend Department social events supportive of trainees and students when possible, and serve as a consistent positive force in their Department. All faculty members are expected to contribute to our clinical, research and teaching missions and to contribute as needed in a collegial manner.
Unique Duties:
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in collaboration with KCI investigators to assure appropriate statistical considerations and data management of proposed clinical trials in compliance with KCI standards. They will oversee scientific collaboration and provide biostatistical/ bioinformatics expertise in answer to concerns raised by the KCI Protocol Monitoring and Review Committee (PRMC).
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD in biostatistics and/or bioinformatics to support the cancer center faculty in basic, clinical, and population research studies. A successful candidate with leadership and faculty mentoring experience is expected to serve as a senior member of the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core (BBC) at KCI. Core directorship may be considered depending on the expertise of the candidate.
