Associate Project Director, C2 Pipeline

Essential functions (job duties):

Responsible for the oversight and coordination of day-to-day operations of afterschool outreach programs, including the supervision of full time and part time WSU employees and outside contractors. Assist the Project Director in the development and planning of programs under the guidelines of the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant mandated by Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and other funders. This position is also responsible for planning, managing and implementing program-wide projects and initiatives in support of the programs strategic plan.

Provide overall leadership and direction of site staff. Set expectations and focus, assign duties, delegate ‎‎responsibilities, evaluate activities, prepare performance ‎appraisals, provide ongoing feedback and professional development plans. Provide ongoing teaching, coaching and mentoring. Manage the ‎‎administrative process for assigned staff including hiring, ‎promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, and ‎and salary ‎‎adjustments. ‎‎‎Plan for future staffing needs.

In conjunction with the Project Director, provide leadership, strategic planning and direction for activities at both the program level and within each satellite location across Metro Detroit. Evaluate and determine best practices and implement change.

Develop, implement and oversee specific continuous quality improvement programs and initiatives. Compile data for benchmarking. Lead the development and implementation of project requirements, plans and objectives to ensure successful project completion. Track, monitor and follow the progress of projects, action items and strategies to ensure deadlines, outcomes, and reporting needs are met for division wide projects. Develop and monitor project budgets and expenditures to ensure completion of projects within allotted resources.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop programing. Serve in a liaison capacity with principals, central office staff, teachers, school personnel, parents of students participating in the programs or are being recruited for the program as well as WSU staff, faculty and students. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with collaborating organizations and agencies in the community, university units, building principals, teachers, and other district personnel.

Ensure compliance and alignment with Child Day Care Licensing Standards, Out of School Time Standards, Michigan Department of Education Core Standards, and other regulatory guidance.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Unique duties:

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in administration and management of K-12 enrichment programs.

Experience: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)

Experienced in employee management and supervision.

Experienced in operations and program management.

Experienced in the development and implementation of new or innovative programs targeting youth in underserved communities.

Experienced in K-12 curriculum and learning, as well as 21st CCLC after school enrichment programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

SUPERVISORY SKILLS: Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train staff and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among staff members. Proven ability to manage and train a diverse staff including outside contractors.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and deal effectively with others. Ability to handle a variety of circumstances with tact and diplomacy and in a confidential manner. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all school systems personnel is required.

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS: Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and monitor workflow. Ability to effectively coordinate program employees and participants to achieve desired results.

BUSINESS ACUMEN: Understands the objectives and mission of the grant; looks for ways to improve processes and quality.

Preferred qualifications:

Minimum of five years’ experience managing a K-12 after school enrichment program in a site or at an administrative level or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least seven years’ experience in an educational setting, which could include early education, secondary education and 21st CCLC learning programs Experience as a certified classroom teacher Experience with MDE 21st CCLC required evaluation and systems, which include EZReports, YPQA and GEMS/MARS Experience with supervision of grant compliance of multiple sites, including meeting internal and external deadlines utilizing a variety of systems, including EZReports and GEMS/MARS

Working conditions:

Work is performed at the WSU CON Offices as well as in K-12 schools. Travel is required to school sites and field trip sites. Ability to work early evenings and Saturdays to oversee and support programs is required.
